I cringe when I see the injustices still practiced against women: sexual abuse and harassment, discrimination and prejudice, overwhelming pressure to fit a perfect image, and the slew of actions aimed to keep us submissive and suppressed. And I know that the sexual scandals rocking TV, film, and politics will serve both to uncloak blatant abuse of male power and catalyze much-needed change for women across the world. It can be just about anyone: your partner, your boss, your friend, your mother-in-law …. And what they do best is make you believe that you have to bend over backwards to please them. Before you know it, you lose your personal power — that dazzling thing that makes you feel strong, confident, unique and loved. A toxic person has power over you because they exploit your insecurities. Plain and simple. So stop dumping all your precious energy into that toxic cesspool and direct it towards your creative pursuits, professional achievements or anything else that would make you feel good.

Quite simply, the more you focus on them and all the negative things they do, the less space you have in your life for the positive. Complaining is a two-edged sword. It can be useful for venting your frustrations and getting sympathy. When you complain, you feel both innocent and victimized. In other words, when you complain, you reinforce a sense of powerlessness and feed the victim mentality.

So making a different choice can be life-changing and yes, super empowering. So what triggers you? Then ask yourself: why am I triggered by that? What past experience is the blueprint of that trigger?

What you choose to say and how you choose to say it shapes your reality on a powerful subconscious level. Holding a grudge is a sure way to continue feeding into the victim consciousness. It adds zero value to your life while robbing you of peace and joy! Let it OUT. Giving our power away is something we do subconsciously.

We do it when we give someone or something control over our lives, our choices, our mood, our confidence. The flowers bloom with dewy sweetness. The birds sing the songs of love. Even that creepy neighbor who steals your Amazon packages looks dear and only slightly psychotic. Do something you enjoy — even something small like splurging on a mani-pedi, going to a movie or having a heart-to-heart with your bestie.

Toxic people are everywhere. So you might as well find a way to — not accept their behavior — but find balance and strength even in the midst of the chaos toxic people create. Maybe that insecurity is your conscience letting you know you were doing something wrong. Own it rather than playing the blame game and calling someone toxic. How to Take Your Power Back!

We want to feel like we're loved as much as we love, but sometimes it's hard not to feel like we're giving more than we're getting in our relationships. Whether it's us reaching out more, giving more, calling more, or simply caring more, even if there's not an imbalance, feeling like there is can spell death to a couple. Our romantic side hopes that relationships will never be about who holds the power, but the truth is the struggle to maintain a balance is always there, and no relationship is truly equal. If you want to be an adult in a relationship then you shouldn't resort to "not texting him," "playing hard to get," etc. They may work for a little while but why would you want to date someone who plays those kinds of games. And if you were dating someone who was confident in themselves, they would never allow those games to be played and would just walk away, as they should. The most important thing in any relationship is confidence. If you have confidence and believe in yourself, then you don't need to play games.
